Applications Engineer - Manufacturing Test

We are increasing the size of a recently established support team providing test applications for prospective customers of Aeroflex test products. Our test products include In-circuit, Functional and Wireless test systems. These systems are used for device, board and final product test in manufacturing as well as advanced research and development.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
The role consists of demonstrating and developing test solutions to meet customer requirements using systems and instruments built by Aeroflex. Understanding the customer’s test requirements and specifications and implementing the solution as part of the EMEA support team.
The role is customer facing and involves:
Requirements collection from written customer information and face to face meetings
Developing material including proof of concept applications to illustrate Aeroflex solutions in an effective manner
Presenting solutions to prospective customers to win new business
Technical Problem solving
The successful candidate should be educated to HND or Degree level in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a similar related subject area. Knowledge of an industry standard language (e.g. C++, VB, LabView, LabWindows, Java, C#) is essential. Knowledge of RF engineering concepts and RF measurements (e.g. Gain, IP3, EVM) is also essential.
Experience in testing Analogue and digital electronics using industry standard test systems or by developing modular custom tests solutions. Knowledge of software control of instruments for signal capture (includes sampling theorem, triggering) as well as RF would be an advantage in this role.
We are looking for individuals who have an interest in working in a customer-focussed environment and have an interest in marketing, sales and selling and be capable of being an effective part of a team based locally and globally. We will be looking for evidence of the ability to plan a project from concept to completion.
This role involves liaising with other Engineering Operations within Aeroflex Test Solutions (Stevenage, Dallas, Austin, France, Germany & Singapore) and so the ideal candidate must be willing and able to travel within Europe (with no restrictions) on a regular basis and at short notice. A foreign language would be an advantage.
